SEARCH FOR ANCESTORS IN SHIPS PASSENGER LISTS TO CANADA
Finding ancestors has never been easier! Surnames are at your fingertips with my custom-built Search Engines! These Search Engines will search ALL off-site Internet pages and Olive Tree Genealogy pages for ships passenger lists to CANADA

TIPS FOR SUCCESSFUL SEARCHING:

  1. Be creative with spelling - remember that spelling wasn't exact in the early years
  2. Remember that transcribers can make errors so if you don't find your ancestor, do a manual search on each passenger list.
  3. Some common mistakes in reading old handwriting are: L=S; K=R; V=W; U=N; F=T; ss=fs and so on
  4. Search Engines are indexed once a week, so new lists put online may not be in the Search Engine for 7 days. Thus you may miss an ancestor unless you search using the links to ships passenger lists that I provide on my Ships Passenger Lists to Canada section

National Archives of Canada Immigration Records 1925-1935

The National Archives of Canada holds immigration records from 1865 to 1935. The names of immigrants arriving from overseas are recorded in passenger lists. Those arriving from or via the United States are recorded in border entry lists. A series of old nominal indexes exist for the 1925 to 1935 records. In cooperation with the National Archives of Canada, the Pier 21 Society in Halifax, Nova Scotia, has input the information from the passenger list indexes into this database. Use the Search Box below to search the NAC database of immigration records. It is not necessary to fill in all the fields. Results of your search will show in a separate browser window, and clicking on any 'hit' will take you directly to the NAC site for more details.
