Genealogy Lookup Service

Some of my visitors know that I have a rather large genealogy research library in my home. Out of curiousity I sent my husband to my genealogy room to count - 748 books and CDs was the number he came up with! Looking through the books I thought how much I wished I could share them with other genealogists. Then I realized that I could!

So I'm pretty excited to announce that I'm starting a lookup service. For now I'm offering lookups in the following from my collection. (I'll be adding more resources over the next few months) For a small fee I will do a lookup for one person in one of my Ontario/Upper Canada Records listed below.

Please note that Lookups ordered in May and June will not be completed until July, while lookups ordered in September and October will not be completed until November. All other months will have orders completed with a few days.

Ontario/Upper Canada Records Lookup

  • Christian messenger births deaths marriages November 1854 to December 1875
  • Dundas Mission Register 1840-1853 It includes material for the areas of Norfolk County, Haldimand County, Brant County, and parts of Wentworth and Oxford Counties.
  • Upper Canada Gazette Index to Personal Names 1793-1798
  • Wesleyan Methodist Baptismal Register 1843-1896
  • Lincoln County Probate Records 1794-1813
  • Wesleyan Methodist Baptismal Records 1843-1890 Lincoln & Welland counties
  • 1828 Census Lincoln County
  • 1828 census Haldimand County
  • 1828 Census Welland County
The records listed above are $10.00 per lookup - one name in one book. Please pay in US Dollars using this link: PayPal.Me/OliveTreeGenealogy. Simply fill in the amount due and then be sure to note the title of the book you want me to check, and the first and last name of the person you want me to look for.

Cemetery Records & Obituaries

Currently I am working on organizing and recording thousands of newspaper clippings of obituaries from the Betty Coldwell Collection. So far I have over 23,000 obituaries indexed. When the indexing project is completed, lookups will be available.

Ontario Land Records Lookup

The Computerized Land Record Index (aka Ontario Land Record Index) summarizes land grants of Crown Land, sales of land from Canada Company sales or leases and from Peter Robinson settlers' grants. If your ancestor settled anywhere in Ontario and he was the first time owner of Crown Land, he should be on these lists. The information from the lists includes date of purchase, type of purchase, residence of purchaser, land location (lot, concession, township), type of purchase (very important to knowing whether or not there are more records available!), archival reference (where full record can be found) and often more info such as date of land ticket, or date of petition for land, etc. If you are unable to obtain the records yourself, I offer a lookup service for the Ontario Land Records Index. For $15.00 U.S. I will check for your ancestor's name in the CLRI. I also include a written explanation of the codes, how you can use the information found in the CLRI to search further in other records. and helpful addresses for further research.

The cost for this lookup service is $15.00 in U.S. funds. Your results will be sent to you by email

You may pay with Paypal, a credit card, or Visa Debit Card using the Paypal button below. Be sure to fill out the Location field with the township and county where your ancestor settled.

Please be sure you understand what resource is being checked and do not request information that is not found in the CLRI.

Remember, the $15.00 fee is for ONE name. If you have two names you wish checked, you must pay for two lookups. Each name you want checked is $15.00 per name.

Abstract Indexes to Deeds

The Abstract Indexes to Deeds are the indexed record of every transaction on a plot of land from Crown ownership to the present day. Using the Abstract Indexes to Deeds you can check for every instance of your name of interest on that parcel of land. By referring to the date and Instrument Number found with each transaction, you can look up the complete record. You may find a will (Many wills are filed in the Land Records Offices) or other important genealogical information or document.

If you would like me to search the Abstracts on your behalf my fee is $50.00 US for a one hour search. You must know the township, lot and concession number where your ancestor owned land. If the search is successful you will received an image of all entries found for your ancestor. You may pay with Paypal, a credit card, or Visa Debit Card using the Paypal button below. Be sure to fill out the Location field with the Lot number, concession, number, township and county where your ancestor settled.
