Help The Olive Tree Genealogy Bring FREE databases Online!

Help bring your past to life by becoming a
Friend of The Olive Tree.

The Olive Tree Genealogy is a website dedicated to bringing primary source records and databases online. These invaluable resources will always be FREE to all researchers.

I created The Olive Tree and I maintain it alone, and have done so since February 1996 when The Olive Tree opened its doors. I have no staff, I'm not a Library, and I don't have a permanent body of volunteers. The continuing existence of this site is only possible with the generous help of you, the reseacher!

How can you help?

  • Become a Volunteer

  • Become a Sponsor

As a Friend of The Olive Tree (Volunteer or Sponsor) you are making a difference. You are contributing to the genealogical community by helping me to continue to find the databases, transcribe them and bring them online for ALL to share.

I am committed to bringing primary source information online to be shared freely, and that dream is one many of you have written to say you share with me. I've managed alone for five years (Olive Tree just had its 5th birthday this past February!) and The Olive Tree has grown. (over 850 pages full of information so far!!) However, I am finding it increasingly difficult (financially, physically and time-wise) to continue to add more databases and information without help.

Please consider helping The Olive Tree and the genealogical community by becoming a Friend of The Olive Tree.

I Want to Become a Friend of The Olive Tree as a Volunteer

  • Volunteers never have to commit to a certain number of databases or lists.
  • Volunteers are not required to pay to transcribe a list.
  • Volunteers choose a topic of interest (ships' passenger lists, muster rolls, church records, etc.) and find and transcribe a list. You send the list or database to Lorine as a text file, and I code it and add it to the growing online databases for all to use freely.
  • I want to help by becoming a volunteer (more details provided)

I Want to Become Friend of The Olive Tree as a Sponsor

  • Sponsors are those who want to be part of the commitment to bring free genealogical information online but are unable to transcribe a list or database.
  • Sponsors are not required to send any specific amount as their donation.
  • No amount is too small to send as a donation!
  • Sponsors never have to keep sending a financial contribution
  • Sponsors can contribute any amount they wish, as often as they wish. There are no committments to future sponsorship.
  • Sponsors' donations go towards the cost of the server this site is on, cost of acquiring databases, and other expenses related to the ongoing maintainance of The Olive Tree.
  • Sponsors will never be solicited, and your personal information will remain completely confidential.
  • As a small token of my appreciation, all sponsorship donations over $5.00 will receive a bookmark, made by Lorine. Please see photos below.

I had a lot of fun this winter designing and making bookmarks! The bookmarks I am offering as a small token of my appreciation for any sponsorship donations over $5.00 are shown below. Please click on the small image to see a full size picture.
