His home and that of his brother Peter (or Pierre) were both in Wall St. He became famous for his work among the negro slaves whom he attempted to Christianise in a steeple room of Old Trinity. He and his brother, along with the Mersereaus, had a greast deal of business in Staten Island, ran the ferry at Blazing Star and the Inn and Ferry in Perth Amboy. The Inn and Ferry at Blazing (now Trembley) were used to funnel spies behind the British Lines in Staten Island.

Timothy married Mary Goodrich 29 Sep.1736 and had more children. He and his son, Timothy Jr. are listed in the records as Colonial silversmiths. When he was eighteen, he rented his own farm and married Grietje Van Ness, the daughter of Cornelius Hendrickse van Ness of Albany and Mycke Hendrieux van der Burchgraeff. After their marriage before 1646 he and his wife and two children went to New Amsterdam (1649). He signed a contract to superintend the Bowery and cattle of Peter Stuyvesant in New Amersfoort and moved into a house on Canarsie Lane in Flatlands, Brooklyn, now known as the Wyckoff Homestead. His remains are supposed to have been buried in land now covered by the altar of this church.
