(m) Daniel b. c.1674, Albany,NY/ m. Deborah VIELE 16 Aug. 1695
(f) Anna Notes: Joachim Ketelhuyn left Mechlenburg during the Thirty Years War and drifted to Amsterdam, Holland where he boarded the ship "De Houttyn" for New Amsterdam on 6 Jun.1642. He landed at Fort Orange (Albany) on 11 Aug.1642. Deborah Ketelhuyn, Maria Bratt and Maria's son, Johannes were captured by French Indians and taken to Quebec. Maria's husband, Barentse Bratt, David and Johanna Ketelhuyn, and three of Deborah Ketelhuyn's children were all killed during this massacre on 20 Oct. 1711, at their homestead. Daniel Ketelhuyn went to Quebec and ransomed back his wife, sister and nephew. --------------------------------------------------

Note From Lorine: You will want to refer to the books written about the Bradt family for more information on your Ketelhuyns who married into the family. Johannea Barentse BRATT is in reality Johannes Barentse Bradt b ca 1668 d 20 Oct. 1711, s/o Barent Bradt & Susanna Dirckse Meyer. It was Johannes' children who took the spelling of Bratt or Brott, but not Johannes himself. Johanna BRATT is his sister, Johanna b ca 1680 and d. 20 Oct. 1711. The marriages to the Ketelhuyn siblings is in Descendants of Albert and Arent Andriessen Bradt by Cynthia Brott Biasca. Descendants are also followed.

Likewise, Hilletie Lansing Vanderzee was Storm Vanderzee's widow - Storm being the brother of Barent Bradt (He took the surname Vanderzee meaning "from the sea" while his siblings assumed the name Bradt). My own direct ancestor is Jan Albertse Bradt, the brother of Storm and Barent. Another book on the Bradt family is Bradt: A Norwegian Family in Colonial America by Peter R. Christoph. They are also found in the early court records of Rensellaerswyck.
