"Peter I. Winne is the sponsor of a child which was born in the town of Saugerties
on the 5 August 1827. The child's name is Sally Margaret. Its mother Rachel
Winne is the daughter of said Peter Winne. The child was begotten by an illicit
intercourse between the said Rachel and Benjamin Reed, a Yankey from Connecticut.
By the anxious solicitude of Peter I. Winne I was induced to baptize this child
on the 10th December A.D.1827, at Jacobus Wolvens, Town of Kingston.

"Andrew S. Wolven and his wife Maria Lewis applied to me sabbath morning
8th Sept. 1828 to have their child baptized, but appearing to be entirely
ignorant of the first principles of christianity, I refused to baptize their
child. Afterwards their mother who is a member of this church came to me on
the stairs of the pulpit and said if I would baptize the child she would take
charge of him and do what she could to have him brought up in the fear of the
Lord. Then I baptized him and she took the vows of paternal care upon her self.
The child was called John, and was born on the (7) seventh day of August, 1828.
