Palatine German Pioneers - Bellinger Palatine Ships' Lists to Pennsylvania Palatine Ships' Lists to New York Palatine Child Apprentices 1710-1714 Palatine Family Names Palatine Historical Overview Palatine Denizations (Naturalizations) 1708 Palatine Mailing Lists Palatine Links Palatine Resources & Addresses Palatine Books Definitions Nicholas Bellinger It is suspected but not proven that Nicolaus was the son of Hans Bellinger of Steinau an der Strabe. He was #36 on the Hunter Lists and like his nephew Johannes (#37) he married a daughter of Hans Kuhn. The pastor at Langenselbold wrote concerning this marriage: "Nicolaus Bellinger and Anna, daughter of Hans Kuhn, were md. 25 Nov. 1685 as per the order of the noble government. She had md. some years ago Jorg Bruning at Huttengesab, but she was not compatable with him, so Bruning went from her and she from himarried She went away with this Nicolaus Bellinger and had an illegitimate child - a little son, [Lorine's note: this is Marcus Bellinger, my next direct ancestor] so that the aforementioned Jorg Bruning has contracted another marriage. After all this however, the above mentioned Bellinger has remained as a stranger. She sent a request to the honourable government to let them stay in the country, and this finally has been permitted by the aforementioned honourable government which ordered me to marry them with prior published penitence and to avoid further trouble and also to legitimize the rearing of this blameless child" Nicolaus Bellinger and Samuel Kuhn both had one horse and 2 carts on 30 Sept. 1693 at Huttengesab. Another list mentions that he has 3 horses with Jost Henrich Kuhn. Nicolaus made his first appearance on the Hunter Lists on 4 Aug. 1710 with 6 persons over 10 years of age. On 4 Oct. 1710 the family had only 4 over 10 years. In 1712 they had 3 over 10 years and in 1716/17, Nicolaus Bellinger, widower with one child was at new-Ansberg.
