The village of origin of this family was Strüth (12 km. west of Bad Schwalbach), entries in the registers of Welterod (1 km. south of Strüth; Churchbooks begin 1607, but gaps). The PROBABLE father of Conrad was Henrich Wüst. Henrich MAY have been the son of Philipp Wüst. The Pastor at Welterod made a fascinating notation concerning the emigration of Conrad Wüst, as translated by John P. Dern:
1709: In this year the winter was terribly cold and because of its fury the spring crop of nut, cherry, and apple trees are almost gone...Koenraat Wÿst, his wife, and 3 children, were on Capt. William Kobÿ's ship in the 5th party of 1709 [Rotterdam Lists)]. Conrad Wüst made his initial appearance on the Hunter Rolls 1 July 1710 with 2 persons over 10 and 2 under 10. The family was registered with 3 persons over 10 and 2 under 10 years 4 Aug 1710, 3 over 10 and 1 under 10 on 4 Oct 1710, 3 over 10 and 2 under 10 on 24 June 1711, 4 persons over 10 and 1 under 10 on 29 Sept 1711, and 3 persons over 10 and 2 under 10 years on 24 Dec 1711. Coenraet Wiest was naturalized 8 and 9 Sept 1715 (Kingston Naturalizations). Conrad Wust and Maria Abel with 5 children were at Wormsdorff circa 1716/17 (Simmendinger Register). Coenradt Twist was a Palatine Debtor in 1718, 1719 (at Kingsberry), and 1721 [Livingston Debt Lists)]. Conrad Wist was a Palatine not willing to remain on the Manor 26 Aug 1724 [Doc. Hist. of NY, III:724)]. Counrat Wiss made his last appearance on Dutchess Co. Tax Rolls in 1733/34 [Dutchess Co. Tax Lists)].
