Regulus transport ship from Cork Ireland to Quebec

Journal of the Medical and surgical journal of the Regulus transport ship for 7 April to 13 July 1825 by Matthew Burnside, Surgeon and Superintendent conveying the Irish Emigrant Settlers from Cork to Quebec.

This journal is detailed notes on each of the Irish passengers Surgeon Burnside treated. Below are the names, ages, dates of admission, whether the patient died or recovered and a few notes for some patients. Most patients have their illnesses noted in detail, along with medicines given, reaction of patient and other data.

Mary Collins, aged 16. Put on sick list, 4 June 1825. Discharged 19 July 1825 cured.

Robert Cunningham, aged 24. Put on sick list, 10 May 1825 at sea. Discharged, May 1825 - no day given.

John Falvey, aged 16 months. Put on sick list, 17 June 1825 at River St Lawrence. Discharged 4 July 1825 cured.

Eugene Gardiner, aged 22. Put on sick list, 30 May 1825. Discharged 12 July 1825 cured.

[Died] Maurice Gibbons, aged 74; during a heavy gale on the banks of Newfoundland, in the middle of the night, was thrown out of his sleeping berth. Put on sick list, 31 May 1825. Died 12 July 1825 within one days journey of Prescott.

Bell Handlane, aged 40. Put on sick list, 16 June 1825. Discharged 27 June 1825 cured.

Mary Kean, aged 21. Put on sick list, 13 June 1825. Discharged 25 June 1825 cured.

John Kennedy, aged 28. Put on sick list, 21 May 1825 at sea. Discharged 30 May 1825 cured.

James Handlow, aged 22. Put on sick list, 28 May 1825. No Date of discharge.

James Pope, aged 28. Put on sick list, 23 June 1825. Discharged 4 July 1825 cured.

Patrick Quinlan, aged 32. Put on sick list, 20 June 1825. Discharged 26 June 1825 cured.

Michael Quinilan, aged 10. Put on sick list, 8 May 1825 in Cork. No Date of discharge

Bridget Shannahan. Put on sick list, 4 June 1825 at the gulf of St Lawrence. Discharged 14 June 1825 cured.

John Sullivan, aged 2, fell from the main ladder to the lower deck dislocating right arm. Put on sick list, 30 May 1825. Discharged 10 June 1825 cured.

Mary Sullivan, aged 18. Put on sick list, 7 June 1825 at river of St Lawrence. Discharged 22 June 1825 cured.

John Tobin, aged 38. Put on sick list, 12 May 1825 in the Cove of Cork. Discharged 25 May 1825 cured.
