John Campbell Bremen Germany to New Orleans Louisiana 1847/48

Contributor: Joann Jameson
Contribution Date: March 2000
Source:

Joaan's Notes: In a few cases I couldn't be sure about a letter, and I substituted a ? for the letter in question. There were several passengers listed without ages, and one family was listed without first names or ages. When data was missing from the list I put a ___.

My great-grandfather, Matthias Kuechmann, came to the USA on this ship when he was 14 years old. It took me 14 years to find the port of arrival and the name of the ship -- so I hope that putting the list on the net will help descendants of some of the other passengers who might be looking for their family's ship.

Ship: John Campbell
Departed: Bremen, 29 Oct 1847
Arrived: New Orleans, 4 Jan 1848

DISTRICT OF MISSISSIPPI---PORT OF NEW ORLEANS

I, Thos. I. TOBIN, Master or Commander of the JOHN CAMPBELL do solemnly, sincerely, and truly swear, that the within list signed by me and now delivered to the Collector of this District, contains the names of all the Passengers, taken on board, the said ship at the Port of Bremen or at any time since, and that all matters therein set forth, are, according to the best of my knowledge and belief, just and true. I do further swear, that two of the said Passengers have died on the voyage.

Sworn before me this 4 day of January 1848, Collector, Thos. I. TOBIN
