Ships' Passenger Lists, Return of Foreign Protestants Shipped by John Dick of Rotterdam on board the ANN, for Halifax in Nova Scotia

Contributor: Catherine DiPietro
Source: Historic Saga of LeHeve by Ruth E. Kaulback, 1970. The surnames are original spellings from the English clerk recording German and French speaking people so the actual spelling varies.

Almost everyone on the passenger lists are foreign protestants, recruited by the British to populate Nova Scotia with loyal, fresh tax payers. These folks were victualled in Halifax for two to three years before founding and populating Lunenburg County, Nova Scotia.

"Return of Foreign Protestants Shipped by John Dick of Rotterdam on board the ANN, John Spurrier, Master, for Halifax in Nova Scotia amounting to 322. Rotterdam July 5, N.S., 1750. Recd. from Mr. John Dick. Recd. July 15, 1750" List accompanied by admission of indebtedness to John Dick, payable on safe arrival at destination (in German, with English translation), dates Rotterdam 19 June 1750.

A List of Persons who have engaged themselves to be transported to Nova Scotia and are gone from hence in the ANN, John Spurrier, Master.
