Emigration Notes: Many of the farmers from Mecklenburg came from the villages surrounding Neubukow, Schwerin. Buschmuehlen & Spriehusen (Kitzerow, Lange, Boelte, Westphal, Zeleck, Krueger, Sauss, Schwisow, Schultz, Moeller), Niendorf (Steinhusen), Zweedorf (Fluege), and Garvendorf (Zarn).

And many of these first settled on farmland just west of Chicago

Possible Corrections: Julie Lange, listed as age 27 was born on June 4, 1835, making her only 17 Many of the 2's and 3's in the ages looked alike. Also the letters "w", "u" and "n" looked the same.

About the ship: The George Canning was built in 1852. This voyage began in Hamburg on October 19, 1852. The ship was roughly 42 meters in length, 9.3 meters in beam and 6.5 meters in depth with 3 masts. It sank on January 1, 1855 on the Elbe River. See a painting of it and more information
