Annual return of lunatics: Stocksley Union 1844

Description Annual return of lunatics in the Stokesley Union, giving names, ages, parish to which chargeable, where maintained, weekly cost of maintenance, whether lunatic or idiot, dangerous to himself or others, of dirty habits, and how long they have been of unsound mind. Includes:

- William Routledge aged 70 years, chargeable to Great Ayton, and maintained in York Lunatic Asylum since 10 June 1837. His weekly cost of maintenance is 7s; he is an idiot, not dangerous to himself or others, of dirty habits, and has been of unsound mind from birth

- Martha Biggins aged 32 years, chargeable to Great and Little Broughton, and living with her mother at Great Broughton. Her weekly cost of maintenance is 2s 6d; she is an idiot, not dangerous to herself or others, not of dirty habits, and has been of unsound mind from birth

- Edmund Taylor aged 66 years, chargeable to Hutton, and maintained in York Lunatic Asylum since 1 June 1844. His weekly cost of maintenance is 7s; he is a lunatic, dangerous to himself or others, not of dirty habits, and has been of unsound mind for four years

- Ann Broad aged 53 years, chargeable to Ingleby Arncliffe, and maintained in the Union workhouse. Her weekly cost of maintenance is 2s 21/4d; she is an idiot, not dangerous to herself or others, not of dirty habits, and has been of unsound mind from birth

- Elizabeth Harker aged 53 years, chargeable to Ingleby Greenhow, and maintained in the Union workhouse. Her weekly cost of maintenance is 2s 21/4d; she is an idiot, not dangerous to herself or others, not of dirty habits, and has been of unsound mind from birth

- Robert Nelson aged 54 years, chargeable to Kirby, and living with a married sister at Redcar. His weekly cost of maintenance is 4s; he is an idiot, not dangerous to himself or others, of dirty habits, and has been of unsound mind from birth
