Shuart Family of OntarioThe Shuart family of Ontario has been very difficult to put together. It has so far been impossible to link it with certainty to the Dutch line descended from Soert Olferts from Heerenvan, Frisnian, Netherlands who settled in New Netherland (New York) in the mid 1660s, but it seems almost certain the Ontario Shuarts descend from this family.Sioert Olfertszen "de metselaer" (the stone mason) came to New Netherland from Heerenveen, Friesland, in 1663 on the ship Statyn with his wife Ytie Roelofs. With them was their young son -- Olfert Soert -- born about 1661 in the Netherlands. On 27 January 1664 their daughter Maryken was baptized in the New Amsterdam Dutch Church. Soert died 05 Oct 1702 in New York City, having married three times. Soert Olferts' wives were:
