Olive Tree Genealogy has several ongoing Immigration Projects to find or reconstruct Canadian Ships Passenger Lists before 1865. They are the J J Cooke Shipping Records 1847 to 1871 with its lists of Irish passengers and New York Almshouse Records 1818-1855 with its lists of ships and passengers arriving in Canadian ports. A very exciting NEW project as of October 2011 is the Poor Law Union Immigration from England to Canada. These are names of impoverished people whose parishes in England did not wish to support with money. Rather than go to the workhouse they were given the option of emigrating to Canada, New Zealand or Australia. You will find names of passengers for 23 ships sailing between 1836 and 1853 - ships that until this project had no known passenger list surviving! Also included are names of emigrants between 1836 and 1871. Another ongoing project is Emigrants from England in New York City Almshouse 1818-1830 - 254 names of English immigrants to Canada & USA including the name of the ship they sailed on. Completed projects include Names of Emigrants from the 1845-1847 (Records of James Allison, Emigrant Agent at Montreal Quebec Canada) Return of Emigrants Landed at the Port of Kingston Ontario, Canada (1861-1882) and Peter Robinson Irish Immigration to Peterborough 1823 and 1825 (includes passenger lists and surgeon's logs of the sick and dying)
