Palatine German Pioneers - Hommel
Harmanus or Manus Hommel aka Hummel
He is listed as Hermann Hummel #322 on the Hunter Lists of Palatines to New York. He married Anna Margaretha, daughter of Johann Wilhelm Schneider prior to emigration. It is likely his origins were near the Schneider's ancestral village of Birnbach in the Westerwald.
Herman Hummel, his wife and one child were listed near Hans Willem Sneider in the 6th party of Palatines.
Herman Hummel is first seen on the Hunter Lists on 4 July 1710 with 3 persons over 10 yrs. On 4 Aug. 1710 he has 2 persons over 10 yrs. On 8 and 8 Sept. 1715 Herman Hommel was naturalized. He was recorded in a list of the Foot Company of Militia for the town of Shawangunk under Capt. Nicolas Hoffman and in the regiment of Ulster Co. under Col. Jacob Rutsen in 1715.
Harmanus Hommell was taxed at Kingston 1718-1721 and was a freeholder there in 1728. [Ref. Henry Jones Jr. "Palatines to New York"]

GENERATION 2: Catherine Hommel baptised 30 Dec. 1711 Kingston New York, Sponsors Johannes Kleyn, Catrina Snider. Parents Harmanus Hommel, Margrita Snider. Catherine Hommel married Zacharias Bakker in Kingston New York. The Kingston Church Record reads:
Zaccharias Bakker, j.m born in hoogduytsland (Germany) and Catrian Hommel, j.d. born in Kingston, both reside in Kingston. Banns Registered 16 Apr. 1732. Married 5 May 1732
